Robotic process automation (RPA) vendor UiPath has entered into a partnership with process mining software firm Celonis that centers on the joint marketing and sales of solutions that combine their respective technologies.

The idea is for clients to use the software to search through their systems to better identify areas that have the potential to be improved through automation. Alexander Rinke, co-CEO and founder of Celonis, says that the key is differentiating between processes that are “standardized enough to benefit from RPA” and those that still require more “streamlining upfront.”

This mining process-based strategy, according to Rinke, has shown to be a quicker (sometimes 50% quicker) and better way to implement RPA rather than having a human use intuitive alone to decide which areas can benefit from automation.

“Customers can now automatically visualize and screen their processes for areas with highest automation potential, and subsequently build, test, and deploy RPA in an accelerated and structured fashion,” said UiPath in a statement.
