Unisys CEO Peter Altabef Lauded With Eagle Award For Contributions to US Federal IT

Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) today announced that Unisys Chairman and CEO Peter Altabef has been honored as the 2019 industry recipient of the Eagle Award for his significant contributions to federal government IT in the US.

Two winners of the Eagle award – one from government and one from industry – are selected each year from among the 100 winners of the annual Federal Computer Week Federal 100 Awards recognizing individuals who made a significant impact on federal IT in the past year. The 2019 Eagle winners – “the best of the best,” according to Federal Computer Week – were announced at the March 28 Federal 100 Awards Gala in Washington, D.C.

Altabef (above photo) was cited for his work with the President’s National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee (NSTAC), a presidential advisory committee established in 1982. Altabef serves as co-chair of the NSTAC’s Cybersecurity Moonshot initiative, the goal of which is to make the Internet safe and secure for the delivery of critical services by 2028. The Cybersecurity Moonshot team delivered its report – which calls for a “whole of nation” approach encompassing government, business and academia, similar to the approach taken with the original Apollo Moonshot – to the White House in November 2018.

“It is an incredible honor to have been selected for this award. I humbly and gratefully accept it on behalf of all who have contributed to the Cyber Moonshot initiative, including my colleagues at Unisys,” said Altabef. “I would also like to congratulate all of the Federal 100 Award winners who serve our country every day.”
