Best of the Best: Everest Group Picks Top 5 Leading Vendors in the RPA Market

In a report identifying the top 18 top robotic process automation (RPA) vendors, Everest Group has named Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism, NICE, Thoughtonomy, and UiPath as the five market leaders.

The a Dallas-based consulting and research group’s highly respected “Product PEAK Matrix Assessment” for the industry noted that the standouts outperformed their peers in several key areas.

Across the board, these five “leaders” have demonstrated high client satisfaction scores. They have also generally moved their business models toward more client-friendly flexible pricing and subscription-based licensing models, as opposed to perpetual licensing, stated Everest Group.

Even among the top five, there are strengths and drawbacks as well. The San Jose, California-based Automation Anywhere, for example, has the largest number of clients followed by UiPath, which was founded in Romania and has made New York its headquarters.

And both firms, along with Blue Prism of the United Kingdom, land in the top three in RPA license revenue, according to Everest Group.

In terms of geography, Thoughtonomy, based in London, joins Blue Prism as the market leader in United Kingdom, while Automation Anywhere and UiPath dominate in both North America and Asia.

Though falling outside the top five, eight other firms were recognized as “Major Contenders” in the space: EdgeVerve, Jidoka, Kofax, Kryon Systems, Pegasystems, Redwood Softward, Softomotive, and WorkFusion.

Rounding out the list are a category that Everest Group categorizes as “Aspirants,” which is comprised of: AntWorks, AutomationEdge, Contextor, Datamatics, and OpenConnect.

In assessing the market in its exhaustive report, Everest Group used an array of factors from the database it maintains. Among other aspects, the firms says that its research looked at each company’s revenue, client base, automation development, integration features, partnerships with service providers, industry coverage, commercial model availability, and support in regard to product training, maintenance, and consulting.
