Unisys Corporation’s board of directors has elected Peter Alabef, president and CEO of the company, as the next chairman of the board effective next April. In addition to his new responsibilities, he will remain in his current role as chief executive and president.
The current chairman, Paul Weaver, will remain in his position on the board through April 26 of next year, when he will retire after eight years on the board.
Weaver has served as chairman since 2015 but will step down due to reaching the mandatory retirement age of 72, according to the Blue Bell, Pennsylvania-based information technology and consulting company.

Altabef has been Unisys president, CEO, and board member since joining the firm in 2015. Prior to taking over at CEO, he had served as president and CEO of MICROS Systems, Inc., and before that as president and CEO of Perot Systems Corporation.
“I thank Paul for his leadership and guidance over the years,” said Altabef. “Paul has served with distinction over the past seven years and his presence, both on the board and as chairman, will be missed.”
Earlier this month, during the same meeting, the board of directors also elected Nathaniel Davis as independent lead director. He will also assume this position on April 26, filling the vacancy. “I look forward to continuing my work with Peter and our other board members and to serving in this new role,” said Davis.
